Anthropology Through The News

Long-time in preparation, the companion volume to In Search of the Origins of Humanness is finally available! Anthropology through the News is an introduction to cultural anthropology especially written and illustrated for precollegiate students. Each chapter is built around a newspaper article that illustrates the main concept introduced in a given chapter.  By showing students that anthropology-related stories often appear in the news, we hope that students will see that anthropology is not just an academic subject taught in school, but a subject relevant to their lives. As was with the first book, Anthropology through the News, is filled with humorous drawings that cleverly illustrate ideas and concepts that appear in the text. Each chapter concludes with a project-type of "field" activity requiring students to employ many of the skills used by anthropologists actually doing fieldwork.
